Funeral service for Roy 'Chic' Troquille will be held 11 AM Thursday, March29, 2007 in St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church with Rev. Thomas Chandy and Rev. Edward Basco officiating. Burial will be in Gorum Cemetery at Gorum, La. under the direction of Blanchard St. Denis Funeral Home of Natchitoches, La. Visitation will be Wednesday, March 28, 2007 from 5 PM until 9 PM with a rosary at 7 PM in the funeral home.
Mr. Troqille, 75, of Gorum, La., died Monday, March 26, 2007, at Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Alexandria, La.
He was a native and lifelong resident of Gorum, La. He was retired from Louisiana Forestry Service as a Crew Leader. He also was a crane operator for Avondale Shipyard in New Orleans, La. He was a veteran of Korean Conflict serving in the U. S. Army. He was a member of St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church.
He was preceded in death by his son, Michael Keefe; sisters, Azelie Coutee, Lucille Atwelll, Laura Vercher, Louanna Basco, Louise Vercher, Florence Brosette; brothers, Mitchell Troquille and T. C. Troquille; parents, Albert 'Abie; Troquille and Mary Elizabeth Rachal Troquille.
He is survived by his wife Carmen Basco Troquille of Gorum, La.; one daughter, April Dawn Troquille of Oklahoma; two sons, Richard Shilling and wife Rita Kay of Gorum, La. and Phillip Shilling and wife Donna Kay of Gorum, La.; grandchildren, John Shilling and wife Cheryl, Justin Shilling and wife Beverly, Raymond Shilling and wife Candi, Jessica Shilling, Gregory Shilling and wife Maricel, Erin Keefe; great grandchildren, Jacob Shilling, Callie Shilling, Jessalin Edwards, Matthew Shilling, Grace Shilling, Victoria Shilling, Austin Shilling, Gabriel Castro and Caroline Shilling; one sister, Gertrude Rachal of Gorum, La.; two brothers, Albert 'Jay' Troquille of Gorum, La. and James Troquille of Monroe, La.
Pallbearers will be Richard Shilling, Philip Shilling, Justin Shilling, Raymond Shilling, Monty Cortez, Jonathan White, John Coutee, and J. C. Coutee.
Honorary pallbearers will be Jessica Shilling and Erin Keefe.
Chic was a kind and loving, devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was an avid hunter and outdoorsman. He was very active in church and community services. Chic never met a stranger and was a friend to all.
