Services for Frances Edwards Pratt , (Mrs. Jared Sanders Pratt), will be Friday, March 30, 2007 at 2 PM in the Chapel of Blanchard St. Denis Funeral Home, Natchitoches, Louisiana. Visitation will be Thursday, March 29, 2007 from 5 PM until 7 PM. Rev. Donald R. Avery, Senior Pastor of First United Methodist Church of Natchitoches, La. will officiate, assisted by Rev. James Poole. Graveside service will follow at Fillmore Cemetery, Haughton, La.
Frances was born March 19, 1916 at Haughton, Louisiana. She was the only child of Frank Edwards and Ludie Platt Edwards. She died March 27, 2007 in Natchitoches, La.
Her forbearers settled in Bossier Parish, Louisiana at Bellvue, Princeton and Fillmore Circa 1848.
Predeceasing her in death: her husband Jared Sanders Pratt, Sr.; they were married August 1935, her son Jared Sanders Pratt, Jr., and her father and mother.
Among survivors are her first cousin, Harry Carter Edwards, her nephew, Donald Pratt and wife Hilda and their children, James Pratt and Carol Pratt Speelman and their families; her sister-in-law, Lou Pratt Johnson and her children, Dr. Ed Johnson and Nancy Johnson (Orsulak) and family; her companion and friend Daisy Mae Tignon, other relatives include second cousin Hal Ramsey and wife Susie, Ben Pratt and many other cousins and friends, a very special neighbor Mrs. Ruth Caldwell, and a very special cousin-in-law, Theodosia Murphy Nolan.
Frances was a graduate of Haughton High School and attended Louisiana State Normal College (Northwestern State University). She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Natchitoches transferring her membership from Haughton Episcopal Church South, which she joined in l927.
She had the following memberships: Natchitoches Service League, Association for the Preservation of Historic Natchitoches, Daughters of American Revolution, and Geranemo Book Club.
Serving as pallbearers will be Ed Dranguet, Joey Henry, Frank Hines, Ralph Ingram, John Williams Luster, Tom Murchison, James Pratt, and Austin Temple.
Honorary pallbearers will be Jerry Ferguson, Pat Henry, William Nolan, Jr., Hal Ramsey, and Joe Saline.
The family wishes to acknowledge and thank the doctors who treated Frances, as especially, Dr. Bryan Picou, her primary care physician.
