George E. Gardiner, Jr.

Funeral service for George E. Gardiner, Jr. will be held 10 AM Saturday, March 31, 2007 in Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with Rev. Stephen Scott Chemino officiating. Burial will be in The Catholic Cemetery at Natchitoches, La. under the direction of Blanchard St. Denis Funeral Home. Visitation will be Friday, March 30, 2007 from 5 PM until 9 PM with a rosary at 6:30 PM in the funeral home. Mr. Gardiner, 74, of Natchitoches, La., died Wednesday, March 28, 2007, at Christus Shumpert Highland Hospital in Shreveport, La. He was a native of Gueydan, La. He attended Gueydan Elemenary School, then high school and two years of college at. St. Joseph Seminary at St. Benedict, La. Then two years of philosophy at Seminary De Philsophie, Montreal, Canada. Two years active duty in U. S. Army and then three years at Northeast Louisiana University-College of Pharmacy. Graduated with B.S. in Pharmacy in l961. He moved to Natchitoches and married Rachael Maines in l963. He opened Gardiner's Pharmacy in l973 and Retired in 2002. He served Immaculate Conception Catholic Church as sacristist, lector and choir member. He was on board of Natchitoches-Northwestern Symphony. Co-Chairperson with Rachael at the Natchitoches Christmas Festival in l963 and Co-chairperson with Rachael of the St. Denis Bal for the 175th Celebration of Natchitoches, La. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Rachael Maines Gardiner of Natchitoches, La.; one daughter, Mary Ann Gardiner of Dallas, Tx.; one son, George E. 'Ted' Gardiner, III and wife Julie of Natchitoches, La.; grandchildren, Mackenzie Gardiner, Madison Gardiner, and G. Elliott Gardiner; two sisters, Mitzi St. Romain of Lake Charles, La. and Cindy Privat of Lake Charles, La.
