A memorial service for Mr. Billy C. Rue will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, January 22, 2011 in the chapel of Blanchard St. Denis Funeral Home with Reverend Jacqueline King officiating. Interment will follow with military honors at Memory Lawn Cemetery in Natchitoches. The family will receive friends Saturday, January 22, 2011 from 12 noon until the time of service at Blanchard St. Denis Funeral Home.
Mr. Rue, 89 years of age, passed away Tuesday, January 18, 2011 in Greenwood, MS. He was born June 19, 1921 in St. Maurice, LA to the late William Rue and late Roberta Corbett Rue. He was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Janell F. Rue; his son, Louis K. Rue; sisters, Francis Perkins, Elizabeth Alberti and Mary Rue.
He is survived by his son, Joseph Rue; brother, Johney Rue and his wife Kaye; grand daughter, Megan Rue; sisters in law, Helen Allen and Elizabeth Jones; nieces and nephews, Linda Schallmann, Barbara Plauche, Roberta Gremillion, Gay Redditt, Rebecca Favrise, Alice Allen, Rick Allen, Otis Allen, Anne Sullivan, Marvin Jones, James Jones, Keith Veneable, Charles Venable, Elizabeth Lenches, Linda Bennett and Henrietta Kemp.
Billy graduated from St. Mary’s Academy and attended LSU briefly before enlisting in the Louisiana National Guard in 1939. In January 1941, the 204th was called to active duty at the start of World War II. Billy served in the European Theatre of World War II and was a member of the Allied Forces that landed on the beaches of Normandy and continued until Germany’s surrender. Billy was extremely proud of the service he provided for his country in such a time of turmoil.
He was a member of the 1st United Methodist Church of Natchitoches and retired as salesman for a local advertisement company. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
