A bit of sparkle went out of the world today with the death of Hazel Ruth Jordan Readhimer, 96, affectionately known to most as "Miss Jerry."
Mrs. Readhimer was born in Alexandria, the youngest of a large family. She taught dance in several cities in Louisiana and Texas before marrying Warren Hampton (Bubba) Readhimer of Campti. After the death of her husband in 1987, Mrs. Readhimer moved to Natchitoches where she lived for the next 20 years. She enjoyed membership in several organizations, including the Louisiana Society of Colonial Dames and the Association for the Preservation of Historic Natchitoches.
Mrs. Readhimer is survived by two daughters, Amanda, married to Harry Friedman of Natchitoches, and Marguerite, married to Edward Middendorf of Tiburon, California; five grandchildren, Lisa Baldwin and Shauna Rudy of California, Zack Middendorf of Natchitoches, Hampton Friedman of Baton Rouge, and Janet Gable of Naples, Florida; and ten great grandchildren.
