Bobbie Jo Thompson Maggio passed away peacefully at Grace Home in Shreveport on Tuesday, February 8, 2011.
She was a native of Natchitoches, born on November 18, 1932. She moved to Mansfield and later Waskom, TX where she graduated from Waskom High. She returned to Natchitoches to attend Northwestern State University.
She enjoyed traveling and was a voracious reader. She also enjoyed playing bridge in her spare time. Family was always her main focus in life. Upon retirement, her greatest pleasure was spending time with her grandchildren.
During her career she served as the Executive Director of Parochial Employees Retirement System for the State of Louisiana.
Mrs. Maggio was preceded in death by her parents James Franklin and Jennie Wren Thompson of Waskom, TX; husband of 43 years, Samuel Ross Maggio, Sr.; son, Samuel Ross Maggio, Jr.; and a sister, Jennie Wren Veazey of Murfreesboro, TN.
Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter, Angela M. Mayeaux and her husband Kenny; grandchildren, Brandon Mayeaux, Eric Mayeaux and his wife Laura, Sam Maggio and Lindsay Maggio; a brother James B. Thompson and his wife Jody of Benton, LA.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers include her grandsons, Brandon Mayeaux, Eric Mayeaux, Sam Maggio; as well as her nephews, Jim Thompson, Lee Thompson and Stuart Thompson.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 am Saturday, February 12, 2011 at the Minor Basilica of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Natchitoches with Father Irion St. Romain officiating. Interment will follow at Memory Lawn under the direction of Blanchard St. Denis. The family will receive friends from 5 pm until 8 pm on Friday, February 11, 2011 at Blanchard St. Denis Funeral Home with a 6:30 pm Rosary Service scheduled during the visitation.
