Funeral service for Mrs. Geraldine Russell will be 1 p.m. Thursday, February 17, 2011 in the chapel of Blanchard St. Denis Funeral Home with Brother James Perry officiating. An Eastern Star service will conclude the service. Interment will follow at Memory Lawn Cemetery, Natchitoches, LA. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. on Wednesday, February 16, 2011 at Blanchard St. Denis Funeral Home.
Mrs. Russell passed away Sunday, February 13, 2011 at her home in Montrose. She was born May 28, 1921 in Ensley, Alabama. Mrs. Russell was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother. She was Mama and Aunt Jerry to many. She truly loved the Lord and lived her life accordingly. She was a member of Cane River Missionary Baptist Church as well as a member of the Order of the Eastern Star for 59 years.
Those left to cherish her memory include her son Glen P. Russell and his wife Lori of Auburndale, FL; daughters, Gale Russell Thomas of Easton, LA and Freda J. Russell of Shreveport; grandchildren, Stephen LaCaze and his wife Celeste of Ville Platte, Karen Ledet and her husband Lukey of Iota; Kenneth J. Wilcher and his wife Michele of Shreveport, Tanya R. Tippette and her husband Tony of Waynesville, GA, Glenn Russell II and his wife Angela of Montrose, who provided in home care for the past 2 1/2 years; great grandchildren, Kyler and Kelsy Ardoin of Iota, Stephen and Emily LaCaze of Ville Platte, Christian and Michael Miller of Waynesville, GA; her sister, Frances W. Gallien and her husband, Warren, of Giddings, Texas; numerous nieces, nephews and A. J. Bennett and his wife Barbara.
She was preceded in death by her husband Fred J. Russell; a son, Freddie Joe Russell; two sisters Josephine Webster Fann and Elizabeth Webster Everett; three brothers, John Lemuel Webster, Russell Leroy Webster and Asbury Leroy Webster; and parents, Leroy Asbury Webster and Nettie Elizabeth (Riddle) Webster.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers include A.J. Bennett, Stephen LaCaze, Glen Russell II, Kenneth Wilcher, Andrew George, and Beaumon Mitchell Webster, Jr. Lukey Ledet will serve as an honorary pallbearer.
