David Wilson Vascocu, age 89, of Natchitoches, LA, passed away Thursday, February 24, 2011, at his home in Natchitoches, LA. Arrangements are being handled by Blanchard St. Denis Funeral Home in Natchitoches, LA, where the family will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM Friday, February 25, 2011. A rosary will be held during the visitation at 7:00 PM. The funeral service will be at Blanchard St. Denis Funeral Home at 11:00 AM Saturday, February 26, 2011, with Rev. James Foster officiating. Interment will be at Memory Lawn Cemetery in Natchitoches, LA.
Mr. David was a member of the American Legion, Post #10 and served his country during World War II. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather, and will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ura Jane Gallien Vascocu; one daughter, Faye Greer; his parents, Monroe Vascocu and Amanda Scroggins Vascocu; and one brother, Ucie Vascocu
He is survived by three daughters, Gwen Banes of Natchitoches, LA, Evelyn Bennett and husband Beryl of Natchitoches, LA, and Sue Blanchard and husband R.L. of Natchitoches, LA; one son, Ronald Vascocu and wife Yvonne of Natchitoches, LA; twelve grandchildren, Debbie Norman, Janet Banes, Traci Tynes, Sheila Hyde, Rodney Bennett, Christie Bennett, Travis Bennett, Kim Jarrett, Dwayne Vascocu, David Gray, Donna Baker, and Michelle Gardner; fourteen great-grandchildren; two sisters, Erble Longlois of Baton Rouge, LA and Marlee Magee of Houston, TX; and two brothers, Troy Vascocu of Natchitoches, LA and Marvin “Dude” Vascocu of Baton Rouge, LA.
Pallbearers will be Rodney Bennett, Travis Bennett, Dwayne Vascocu, David Gray, Richard Norman, and Fernando Montelongo.
David Bailey will be an honorary pallbearer.
