Dorothy Mae Pruitt Sims, age 82, of Marthaville, LA, passed away Wednesday, March 2, 2011, at her home in Marthaville, LA. Arrangements are being handled by Blanchard St. Denis Funeral Home in Natchitoches, LA, where the family will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM on Friday, March 4, 2011. The funeral service will be at Blanchard St. Denis Funeral Home at 10:00 AM Saturday, March 5, 2011, with Rev. Terry Broadway officiating. Interment will be at Lambertown Cemetery in Robeline, LA. Dorothy was a devoted wife, loving mother, and caring grandmother. She loved the outdoors, whether it was working in her garden or spending time fishing, and she loved to spend time with her family. She was a kind and loving lady, she enjoyed cooking, and taking care of her pets. She fought a courageous battle with cancer for over two years, and grew stronger each day in her faith. She was a wonderful person, and will be truly missed by her family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Sam Pruitt and Maggie Mae Lambert Pruitt; three brothers, S.B. Pruitt, Jessie Pruitt, and J.R. "Hoppy" Pruitt; three sisters, Opal Ammons, Margie Buckins, and Hazel Blue; and her son-in-law, Robert Ferguson. She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Billy L. Sims of Marthaville, LA; four children, Charolette Griffin and husband Boudreaux of Marthaville, LA, Billy G. Sims and wife Teresa of Marthaville, LA, David Sims and wife Tawania of Robeline, LA, and Diane Ferguson of Robeline, LA; eleven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Betty Lou Jordan of Robeline, LA and Rita Broadway and husband Junior of Robeline, LA. Pallbearers will be David Michael Sims, Patrick Kurt Sims, Robert Christopher Ferguson, Deric Myers, Dylan Myers, and Amber Berridge. Honorary Pallbearers will be Patrick Corley and Westley Corely. The family would like to offer a special thanks to Hospice of Natchitoches, the nurses that came and cared for her during her illness, and Dr. Kathleen Kautz for all of their care and concern.
