Norah John Sers, Sr., age 72, of Natchitoches, LA, passed away Tuesday, April 5, 2011, at Natchitoches Regional Medical Center in Natchitoches, LA. Arrangements are being handled by Blanchard St. Denis Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM Friday, April 8, 2011 at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Melrose, LA. The funeral service will be at St. Augustine Catholic Church at 11:00 AM Friday, April 8, 2011, with Fr. Jacob Thomas officiating. Interment will be at St. Augustine Cemetery in Melrose, LA. Born on March 2, 1939, he was one of thirteen children, born to Frances and Louis Sers on Bayou Derbonne, LA. Norah was employed by Valley Electric Membership Co. for 23 years and retired in 2002. After he retired, he continued to farm, garden, and spend time with this family. Norah was lifelong member of St. Augustine Catholic Church of Isle Brevelle. He was a member of the St. Augustine’s Holy Name Society. He is preceded in death by his parents, Frances and Louis Sers Sr., seven siblings, Adele, Frances, Mary Margaret, Gilbert, Bernard, Raymond and Genevia. Survivors include his wife, Carrie Roque Sers of 51 years, his sons Norah Jr and wife Rhonda of Natchitoches, LA and Glenn and wife Julie of Natchitoches, LA; his daughter, Cynthia Metoyer and husband Milton of Natchitoches, LA, his grandchildren, Constance, Samantha, Kelley, Milton Jr, Kelsey, Shamika, Natalle and Brady; his loving siblings Daisy Conant of California, Patricia Moran and husband Noble of Shreveport, LA, Louis Sers Jr and wife Vivian; and Sylvester Sers of Natchitoches, LA, and Anthony Sers and wife Doris of New Mexico; as well as five great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, godchildren and cousins. Norah will be greatly missed by his family, friends and anyone who ever had the pleasure of making his acquaintance.
