Gertrude Leo Martin

Gertrude Leo Martin, age 70, of Natchitoches, La., passed away Tuesday, May 15, 2007, at Heritage Manor Rehabilitation and Retirement Center in Natchitoches, La. She was born on June the 11th, 1936 in Natchitoches, LA. She lived her life in Natchitoches where she raised a wonderful family. She enjoyed crafts, quilting, and flowers. She loved to spend time with her children and friends. She was a loving mother and grandmother and a friend to many. She will be dearly missed. She was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Lonnie Martin and her father, David Leo. She is also survived by five daughters, Linda Fletcher and husband Ron of Natchitoches, LA, Sara Griffith of Natchitoches, LA, Toni Vascocu and husband Rufus of Cumming, GA, Janie Vercher and husband Sam of Bullard, TX, and Sherri Spillman and husband Dwain of Natchitoches, LA; two sons, Steve Martin of Cumming, GA and Mike Martin and wife Shalena of Campti, LA; sixteen grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; her mother, Corine Garza Leo; six sisters; and two brothers. The children of Mrs. Martin want to say a special thank you to Dr. Robert Hernandez of Shreveport, Dr. Archie Breazeale of Natchitoches, Brian Martin and the entire staff of Heritage Manor. Our hearts will forever be grateful to Ms. Laverne McElwee for your love and devotion to our mother. Arrangements are being handled by Blanchard St. Denis Funeral Home in Natchitoches, LA, where the family will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM Wednesday, May 16, 2007. The funeral service will be at Blanchard St. Denis Funeral Home at 2:00 PM Thursday, May 17, 2007 with Rev. Craig Beeman officiating. Interment will be at Fern Park Cemetery in Natchitoches, LA.
