Syble Estelle Walters Brister

Syble Estelle Walters Brister, age 99, of Provencal, LA, passed away Friday, May 25, 2007, at the Natchitoches Regional Medical Center in Natchitoches, LA. She was born on February 27, 1908 in Montgomery, LA. When she was about 13, she and her family moved to Provencal, LA. Syble liked to sew and work in the garden. She was a member of Harmony Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Brister; her parents, Charlie Walters and Nettie Nolley Walters; two sons, Willy Carol Brister and Travis E. Brister; one daughter, Selma McCormick; five brothers; and four sisters. She is also survived by her daughter, Bertha Hall of Houston, TX; three sons, Oben Brister of Mabank, TX, Larry Gene Brister of New Orleans, LA; and Kenneth Leroy Brister of Crosby, TX; one brother, Sanford Walters of Rockwall, TX; 12 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; and 4 great-great grandchildren. Arrangements are being handled by Blanchard St. Denis Funeral Home in Natchitoches, LA, where the family will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM Sunday, May 27, 2007. The funeral service will be held at the Harmony Baptist Church at 2:00 PM Monday, May 28, 2007, with Rev. Randy Olliff officiating. Interment will be at the Harmony Cemetery in Provencal, LA.
