Sue Jean Morgan, 73, of Natchitoches, LA, entered into eternal rest June 02, 2011 in Shreveport, LA. Services are under the direction of Blanchard St Denis Funeral Home in Natchitoches, LA, where the family will receive friends from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm on Sunday, June 5, 2011. A rosary service will be held at 7:00 pm during the visitation. The funeral service will be held at 10:00 am Monday, June 06, 2011 at the Minor Basilica of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Natchitoches, LA, with Fr. Louis Sklar and Fr. John Cunningham officiating. Interment will follow the services at Memory Lawn Cemetery in Natchitoches, LA.
Mrs. Morgan was born August 25, 1937 in Natchitoches, LA to the late William “Preacher” and Mercelle Walters. Mrs. Morgan graduated from Northwestern State University with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and later received her Master’s Degree in education and her 30+. She was also a member of the Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society. She was a very caring and generous person, and always went out of her way to care for others. Sue was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother; she always placed her family first; and will be dearly missed by all who loved her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William “Preacher” and Mercelle Walters; one son, William Kevin Morgan; and one brother-in-law, Don Talbott.
She is survived by her loving husband of 54 years, Earnest Morgan of Natchitoches, LA; her children, Suzanne Morgan Cotton and husband Donald, Gary Morgan and wife Coy, and Chris Morgan; five grandchildren, Josh Cotton, Morgan Cotton Rhodes and husband Logan, Maghen Cotton Bell and husband Hayden, Makenzie Morgan, and Kamryn Morgan; and her siblings, James Donald Walters and wife Barbara, Randall Walters and wife Beth, and Elaine Talbott.
Pallbearers will be Don Kelly, Keenan Kelly, Rayburn Smith, Ricky McCallister, Hunter Mullikin, D’Arcy Stevens, Archie Dalme, and Larry Creamer.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Robert Roy Weaver, Billy Laird, J.P. Dunbar, Stephen “Cal” Calcagno, Kirby Moreau, James Smith, James Haley, and Colt Jackson.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be made to the Memorial and Honor Program at St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital at 501 St Jude’s Place, Memphis, TN, 38105-1942.
