Edrie Melva Cordova Weeks, age 89, of Robeline, LA, passed away Friday, June 3, 2011, at her home in Robeline, LA. Arrangements are being handled by Blanchard St. Denis Funeral Home in Natchitoches, LA. The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM Saturday, June 4, 2011 at Beulah Methodist Church in Marthaville, LA. The funeral service will be at Beulah Methodist Church at 2:00 PM Sunday, June 5, 2011, with Rev. Mike Marbut and Rev. Matthew Pagels officiating. Interment will be at Beulah Methodist Cemetery in Marthaville, LA.
Mrs. Edrie was born on March 06, 1922 to the late James Cordova and Eula Cotton Cordova. She was a very loving mother and grandmother. It could be said that there was no greater bond between mother and children than that of her and her children. She was a hard worker, very independent, and strong willed. She loved all of her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed drinking coffee, eating ice cream, and spending time with her family and friends. She was a great woman, and will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dewey Weeks; her parents, James and Eula Cordova; one brother, Newton Cordova; and two sisters, Alice Hinton and Agnes Walker.
She is survived by three daughters, Sue Marbut and husband Mike of Robeline, LA, Barbara Glass and husband Rubin of Florien, LA, Lynn Durr of Robeline, LA; two sons, Billy Weeks and wife Dianne of Robeline, LA and Jimmy Weeks of Robeline, LA; ten grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Bart Ingram, Michael Marbut, Rubin Glass, Kenneth Walker, John Sparks, and Truman Weeks.
Johnny Moore will serve as an honorary pallbearer.
