A mass for Lillian “Audrey” LaCour will be celebrated on Thursday, June 23, 2011 at 11:00am at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Melrose with Fr. Jacob Thomas officiating.
Lillian “Audrey” Fox-LaCour joined her Savior on June 16, 2011. She was born on October 19, 1939 in Bermuda to the late Frederick and Edith “Nicey” Fox. She was an educated businesswoman who acquired her Business degree then joyfully entered the public school system where she worked as a Computer Programmer (Microfiche) for over 20 years.
After leaving her home in Bermuda at the tender age of nineteen, the tenacious “Audrey” married her sweetheart, the late John “Chris” LaCour, and embarked upon a journey to Albuquerque, New Mexico where they resided until retiring to Natchitoches, LA in October of 2001. They became members of St. Augustine Catholic Church and avid travelers of the world. This well-rounded, fun-loving lady was a light of delight on Cane River. A smile was inevitable when you may have seen her headed to Bingo or the Quilting Club because you never knew what would fly out of her mouth that would either have you doubled over in laughter or piping hot near anger. But even the angry had to smile as they witnessed her actively helping others via the Council on Aging, organizations in & around the community and her church as well as the numerous random acts of kindness she displayed to so many from giving away clothing – to making dishes from her recipe repertoire – to bringing laughter during difficult times. She was a woman to be loved, admired and respected for all she contributed to the world.
Audrey was preceded in death by her loving husband, John “Chris” LaCour; her parents, Frederick Fox and Edith “Nicey” Fox-Edwards; 4 brothers: William, Frederick (Bill), Nathanial (Sam) and Randolph Fox.
She will be dearly missed by 2 sons: John Chris, Jr. and Charles (Christa) LaCour; 5 grandchildren: Chantelle Gallaway, John Chris, III, Audrey, Lilly and Ivy LaCour; 3 brothers and 2 sisters: Fredericka Jacobs, Rudolph Fox (Roseanne), John Henry Fox, Jodie Ann Nesbitt and Colin Smith. Brothers and sisters through marriage whom she loved as her own: Pearl Huckaby and Patricia Cleveland, Louis Sibley (Barbara) and Don Sibley (Ida); 3 aunts: Constance Brangman, Elsie (Reanie) Simmons and Lilian Wright of Bermuda; Special niece, LaRhonda Lamonth (Jude); and a host of cherished nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends.
Visitation will be on June 23, 2011 at St. Augustine Hall from 9:00am to 10:45am. Mass will begin at 11:00am. Interment will follow at the St. Augustine Catholic Church Mausoleum.
Arrangements are under the direction of Blanchard St. Denis Funeral Home.
