Julian "Preacher" Creel

December 13, 1925 — June 28, 2011

Julian Mathew "Preacher" Creel, 86, a lifelong resident of Natchitoches, passed away in Shreveport on Tuesday, June 28, 2011. Visitation will be held from 5-9 p.m. Tuesday, July 5 at the Blanchard St. Denis Funeral Home in Natchitoches, LA. Services for Julian Creel will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, July 6, 2011 at Blanchard St. Denis. Burial will follow at the Memory Lawn Cemetery in Natchitoches, LA. He was born in Joyce, LA in 1925. Julian served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He retired from Tom's Peanut after numerous years of being a salesman which he dearly enjoyed. Julian also took pleasure in preparing the soil for his garden, then working it, and most of all sharing its produce with his neighbors. He spent lots of time building bird houses and watching the birds come and go each year. He is survived by his son, Clyde Creel and wife Terry of Denver, Colorado; step son Ted Hernandez and wife Patricia of Shreveport; one brother Ivy Creel of Baton Rouge; and one sister Jerline Jordon and husband John of Dodson, LA; eight grandchildren: Amy Bruntz and Clyde Creel II both of Denver, Colorado; Chris Surgi of Houston, Texas; Ray Hernandez of Shreveport, LA; Natalie Kellogg of Calvin; Timothy Hernandez and Heidi Green both of Nashville, Tennessee; and Caine Hernandez of Anchorage, Alaska; thirteen great-grandchildren: Tayllor and Isabella Bruntz; Clyde Creel III, Dyllan and Noah Creel, Tyler and Kennedy Hernandez; Danny and Brittany Kellogg; Raymond and Samuel Green; Mathew and Sharon Hernandez; and countless nephews, nieces, cousins, in-laws, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents - Frank and Gerusha Creel; his wife Farris Roy Creel; six brothers: Aron, Dewy, Solice, John, Corteze, and Hezzie; and two sisters: Ruby and Myrtle. The family would like to take this opportunity to thank the staff at Garden Park, Christus Schumpert Hospital, LifePath Hospice, Dr. Ralph Baucum III, Dr. David Henry, and the many doctors and nurses that provided outstanding care over the last few years to Mr. Creel.
