Joseph Earl Sarpy

Funeral service for Joseph Earl Sarpy will be held 10 AM Friday, June 15, 2007 in St. Anthony Catholic Church with Rev. John Cunningham officiating. Burial will be in Memory Lawn Cemetery at Natchitoches, La. under the direction of Blanchard St. Denis Funeral Home. Visitation will be Thursday, June 14, 2007 from 5 PM until 9 PM with a rosary Service at 7 PM and visitation on Friday, June 15, 2007 from 8 AM until 9:30 AM in the funeral home. Mr. Sarpy, 82, of Natchitoches, La., died Thursday, June 7, 2007, at Natchitoches Regional Medical Center in Natchitoches, La. He was a native of Derry, La. He was a former resident of Los Angels, Ca. and returned to Natchitoches, La. in l971. He was former owner and operator of Sarpy Gulf Service Station. He was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church, Holy Name Society and Knights of Peter Claver. He was a veteran of World War II serving in U.S. Navy. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Peggy Sarpy Hall; sister; Oraline Sarpy Christophe; brother, Lomma Sarpy, Sr.; parents, Charles Sarpy and Ellen Chellette Sarpy. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Alberta Metoyer Sarpy of Natchitoches, La.; one daughter, Lorraine Sibley of Natchitoches, La.; grandchildren, Tresa Hall, Peggy Wilson and husband Kevin, Bryan Hall, and Jarrin Sarpy; great grandchildren, LaTerian Smith, Dominique Sibley, Shemyckel Hamilton, and Michael Hamilton; sisters, Estelle Roque and husband John and Velma Metoyer all of Natchitoches, La.; two brothers, Charles Lester Sarpy and wife Roberta of Sacramento, Ca. and James Ray Sarpy and wife Rita of Inglewood, Ca.; sister-in-law, Ruth Sarpy of Natchitoches, La.; brother-in-law, Justin Christophe, Sr. of Natchez, La.. Pallbearers will be Alphonse Balthazar, Isaac Brosssett, Anthony Christophe, David Christophe, Timothy Christophe, and Gregory Sarpy. Honorary pallbearers will be Holy Name Society, Daniel Christophe, Justin Christophe, Jr., Lomma Sarpy, Jr., Allan Sarpy, James Sarpy, Jr., John Rogers Roque, Jr., Isaac Lewis, and Joe Merl Metoyer.
