Vincent was the last remaining son of the late Alce C. Metoyer and the late Regina Llorens Metoyer. Born on September 30, 1932, he was 78 years of age. He received his early education in Natchitoches, Louisiana, when at the age of 15, he moved to Los Angeles California to earn his high school diploma.
He was drafted into the Army and served in the Korean Conflict from 1950 – 1953, attaining the rank of Sergeant and received two bronze service stars and a United Nations Good Conduct medal.
On his return from the war he married Theresa “Fannie” Jarreau of New Roads, Louisiana. To this union a daughter, Angela and a son, Gregory were born. Vincent continued his education by attending the University in Los Angeles, studying political science for three years, while working for Lockheed Corporation for over ten years as a buyer. He later worked for different government agencies in Los Angeles. His passions and interests in life were many, especially in justice for all mankind, politics, music, travel, nature, cooking and baking, as is evidenced by the hundreds of books, cookbooks and magazines he collected on those subjects. He loved his family dearly, especially his beloved little dog, Toby. He was a very generous man who enjoyed
pleasing others and gave of his resources whenever possible.
In 1990 he met and married Livia Gal in Los Angeles and they traveled extensively in the United States and in Europe. In 2008 they traveled to France in quest of finding the migration route of the original founders of the Metoyer family. Since they retired in Natchitoches in 2005, he started to research the genealogy of his family and others, and accumulated hundreds of documents, but he had an outstanding memory for people, names, dates and places, and loved to talk about them.
He leaves in mourning his loving wife, Livia, of 21 years, currently of Natchitoches, his daughter, Angela Metoyer Clayton and her husband Larry, his granddaughters, Lauren and Allison Clayton, and his son, Gregory Metoyer, all of Los Angeles, California, together with many cousins, nieces, nephews and dear friends.
Many thanks are extended to the doctors and nurses of Natchitoches Regional Medical Center in Natchitoches, who so patiently attended to his needs.
