Funeral service for Mr. Kenneth Lee Shaw will be 10 am Saturday, July 30, 2011 in the chapel of Blanchard St. Denis Funeral Home with Rev. Doug De Graffenreid officiating. Interment, with military honors, will follow at Memory Lawn Cemetery in Natchitoches, LA. The family will receive friends from 5 pm until 9 pm on Friday, July 29, 2011 at Blanchard St. Denis Funeral Home. Mr. Shaw, 85 years of age, passed away Tuesday, July 26, 2011. He was born June 18, 1926 to the late Ira Frank Shaw and late Stella Jackson Shaw in Holton, Indiana. Ken proudly served his country in Europe during World War II in the United States Army. Ken was a graduate of Northwestern State College; earning his Bachelors in Health and Physical Education and Math; and a Masters Degree in Administration. Being a standout basketball player for Northwestern State College, he held many records for his performance on the court. He was inducted into the NSU Athletic Hall of Fame in 1988 and the Indiana Ripley County Basketball Hall of Fame in 2002. He was a postmaster for the United States Postal Service and retired as principal, teacher, and coach from the Natchitoches Parish School System. He is survived by his wife, Sue Shaw of Natchitoches; son, Mark Shaw and his wife Kathy of Natchitoches; daughter, Brenda St. Andre of Shreveport; grandchildren, Brian St. Andre and his wife Brandi, Christopher Shaw and his wife Virginia, Corey Shaw, Michaela Stanberry and her husband Todd and Mayghen Rains and her husband Clint; great-grandchildren, James David Almond, Jake St. Andre, Mathis Stanberry, and Payton Rains. He was preceded in death by one son; Kevin Shaw; one granddaughter, Kayla Shaw; three brothers, Elmer Shaw, Wallace Shaw, and Russell Shaw; and two sisters, Wilma Earle and Doris Coke. Those honored to serve as pallbearers include: grandsons-Brian St. Andre, Christopher Shaw, Corey Shaw, and Todd Stanberry, along with friends, Pete Leone, and Bobby Outlaw. Serving as Honorary pallbearers will be life-long friends, George Davis, Tynes Hildebrand, Dan Poole, Russell Evans, and Johnny Emmons and brothers-in law, Tommy Mathis and Dorwayne Glover.
