Funeral Services for Patty Jean Rushing Coffey will be conducted on Monday, the 29th of August 2011 at 10 A.M. at Blanchard-St. Denis Funeral Home in Natchitoches with Reverend Tommy Rush and Dr. Roy Cook serving as celebrants.
Friends are invited to a visitation with the family on Sunday, the 28th of August 2011 from 5 P.M. until 9 P.M. at Blanchard-St. Denis Funeral Home in Natchitoches.
A committal service will be conducted following the funeral services in the Hathorn Cemetery in Ashland.
Mrs. Coffey, age 83, passed away peacefully on Thursday, the 25th of August 2011 at the Natchitoches Community Care Center. She was a native Ashland and graduated from Ashland High School. She then attended Northwestern State University and graduated with B.S. in Home Economic Education. She then attended Mississippi College and graduated with M.S. in Elementary Education. She served the Natchitoches area by serving as an Elementary School Teacher with the Natchitoches Parish School Board. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Natchitoches. She was a member of the Garden Club, Homemaker’s Club and especially enjoyed the Woman Missionary Union.
She is predeceased by her husband, Olan L. Coffey; her parents, Michael Dewey Rushing and Gladys Lay Rushing; her brothers, Murray Rushing and R.D. “Monk” Rushing.
Those left to cherish her memory her children, James Coffey and wife Ronda of Calvin, Patricia Ratkovich and husband Thomas of Tuscaloosa, Alabama, Thomas Coffey and wife Kelly of Natchitoches ; her brother, Robert Rushing and wife Joy of Houston, Texas ; sister in law, Leeta Joy Hughes of Birmingham, Alabama ; her grandchildren, Bonnie N. Jacques, Jessica Jones, Nancy Bell, Catherine Coffey, Daniel Coffey, Patrick Coffey, Timothy Coffey and Claire Coffey; her great grandchildren, Hannah Fannin, Molly Fannin and Marley Jones; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
Pallbearers will be Mike Rushing, Larry Rushing, Paul Hughes, Jerry Longlois, Daniel Coffey and Matt Jacques.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Bubba Powell, Glenn Price, Tommy Lay, Robert E. Bamburg, Kenneth Hathorn, Marlis Coffey and Gahagan Lee.
In lieu of floral contributions donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association and the Hathorn Cemetery Association.
