Grethen M. Jones

Funeral service for Grethen M. Jones will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, September 3, 2011 at Blanchard - St. Denis Funeral Home in Natchitoches, LA with Fr. Presley Hutchins officiating. Interment will follow at Memory Lawn Cemetery in Natchitoches, LA. The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm untli 9:00 pm with a Rosary held at 7:00 pm on September 2, 2011 at Blanchard - St. Denis Funeral Home in Natchitoches, LA. Grethen Jones, 84 years of age, passed away August 31, 2011. Grethen was born July 26, 1927 to the late Roy Mendenhall and Ivy Hunt Cobb in Castor, LA. She was a wonderful and caring wife, mother, and grandmother. She had a bright and fiesty personality. Grethen was a hard worker. She spent her life nurturing and raising her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She was truly a great woman, and will be greatly missed by all who knew her. She is survived by one daughter, Patricia Ann Barras and husband Don of Alvin, TX; one son Marvin Adams of Fort Collins, CO; eight grandchildren, Christopher Demary of Natchitoches, LA, Theresa Lumpkin of Florien, LA, Gary Welch of Florien, LA, Nathan Welch of Anacoco, LA, Brian Adams of Fort Collins, CO, Jerry Barras of Friendswood, TX, Donald Barras of Friendswood, TX, and Jolie Davis of Pearland, TX; a host of great-grandchildren; one sister, Juanita Koontz of Dublin, GA; and close friend, Welber "Jake" Welch of Natchitoches, LA. She was preceded in death by her first and second husband, Noel Adams and Marbury Jones; her parents, Roy Mendenhall and Ivy Hunt Cobb; two daughters, Margaret Adams Simmons and Beverly Lee; two brothers, Jackie Cobb and Grant Mendenhall; and one sister, Patsy Cobb. Those honored to serve as pallbearers will be Chris Demary, Gary Welch, Mark Lumpkin, Justin Lumpkin, Kyle Welch, and Tyler Welch. Honorary pallbearers will be Jonathan Lumpkin and Christopher Demary.
