Roberta Smith

Roberta Butler Smith, age 95, of Natchitoches, LA, passed away Wednesday, June 27, 2007, at the Heritage Manor Rehabilitation and Retirement Center in Natchitoches, LA. She was born on July the 8th, 1911 in Tioga, LA. She moved to Natchitoches in 1933 and has lived here every since. Mrs. Smith was employed by the Natchitoches Parish School System where she taught on the high school level. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Natchitoches. She lived a long and fulfilling life and will be missed by her family and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, William A. Smith, her father and mother, Oscar Butler and Eva Stewart Butler; and four sisters, Clara Killen, Sara Butler, Evelyn Horton, and Georgia Bailes. She is survived by her daughter, Beverly Allen of Natchitoches, LA; seven grandchildren, Jennifer Etzel of Monroe, LA, John Allen of Natchitoches, LA, Billy Allen of Coppell, TX, Keith Smith of Shreveport, LA, Trina Goulaf of Breaux Bridge, LA, Michael Smith of Houston, TX, and Tony Smith of Houston, TX; nine great-grandchildren; one sister, Virginia Thomas of Alexandria, LA; and one brother, Oscar C. Butler, Jr. of Natchitoches, LA. Arrangements are being handled by Blanchard St. Denis Funeral Home in Natchitoches, LA, where the family will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM Friday, June 29, 2007. The funeral service will be held at Blanchard St. Denis Funeral Home at 1:00 PM Saturday, June 30, 2007. Interment will follow at Memory Lawn Cemetery in Natchitoches, LA.
