Melvin L. Doggett

A service to remember the life of Melvin L. Doggett, Sr. will be 10 am Wednesday, September 7, 2011 in the chapel of Blanchard St. Denis Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Memory Lawn Cemetery in Natchitoches, LA. The family will receive friends from 5 pm until 8 pm on Tuesday, September 6, 2011 at Blanchard St. Denis Funeral Home. Mr. Doggett, 86 years of age, passed away Sunday, September 4, 2011 in Natchitoches. He was a certified public accountant and ran his own firm, Doggett Accounting. He proudly served his country as a Merchant Marine. He was a member of many of the local service clubs. He was preceded in death by his wife, Marjorie “Mardy” Doggett; sons, Melvin Doggett, Jr. and Monty Doggett, Sr. Those left to cherish his memory include his grandchildren, Allison Doggett Smeltzer of Shreveport, Nicole Doggett of Austin, Texas and Monty Doggett, Jr. of Mobile, Alabama; the mother of his grandchildren, Jeanne Doggett. Those honored to serve as pallbearers include: Wayne Bostick, Clifton Smeltzer, Monty Doggett, Jr., Gary DeBlieux, Tom Palmer, Scotty Williams. W.A. Bradley will serve as an honorary pallbearer.
