Bette Jane Lace

BETTE JANE WHITNEY LACE NATCHITOCHES, La. — Bette Jane Whitney Lace, a former Oregon, Ill., resident, passed away early morning June 22, 2007, in Natchitoches, La. She was born Dec. 8, 19 21, in Rockford ( Ill.) Memorial Hospital, the daughter of Timothy Lawrence Whitney and Madge Bear Whitney. She married the love of her life, Roger V. Lace April 13, 1947, in St. Mary's, Rockford. He preceded her in death June 12, 2002. She is survived by daughters, Anne Whitney, Lace (David IV) Stevens, Natchitoches and Jenny Elizabeth (David Tavin) Lace, Austin, Texas; grandchildren, David Forrest Stevens V, Park City, Utah, Benjamin Whitney Stevens, Natchitoches and Abby Schooler of Atlanta, Ga.; sister, Mary Ellen Sassaman, Orgeon. Bette attended the Three Arts Club, Chicago, Ill., a former member of the Rockford Junior Women's Club, the Ogle County Republic Women's Club, bridge clubs and the Oregon Country Club. Her Irish always shined through and she was a great joke teller and communicator. She and Roger enjoyed cruises and a wonderful trip to visit his cousin in Switzerland .
