Kelcie Vercher, 16 years of age, passed away September 17, 2011. Kelcie was born March 20, 1995 to Robert Heath Brister and Tina Vercher Kay in Natchitoches, LA. Kelcie was an exceptional child. She loved to laugh and smile, even though she didn’t talk much. She was intelligent beyond her years, but shy and quiet throughout grade school. She joined activities in school more to be with her friends, as opposed to being at the events themselves. She joined quiz bowl to express her intelligence. She was a member of FCA , quiz bowl, and the cheerleading squad in Provencal Junior High and at Natchitoches Central High School. She also was a member of FBLA, YACA, and Keyclub. She was a summer softball player at Provencal Little League, an employee at Signs and Banners, as well as a Calico Belle. Kelcie loved her family and tended to make her friends a part of her family. Attending Natchitoches Central made the biggest difference in her life. She began making new friends, which she was never able to do before. In recent years, Kelcie had blossomed into a beautiful young lady, and was really beginning to be proud of herself.
She leaves behind an exceptional legacy. In the past few days, it was obvious to see how good she had become at making friends. Kelcie was a joker, she loved to giggle, pick, and laugh. She was a member of three large families, and was a shining star in each. She will live forever in our hearts and memories.
