Funeral service for Naomi Gibson will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, October 13, 2011 at Old Bethel Baptist Church in Natchitoches, LA with Rev. Roger Matkin officiating. Interment will follow at Old Bethel Cemetery in Natchitoches, LA. The family will receive friends starting at 5:00 pm on October 12, 2011 until service time on Thursday at Old Bethel Baptist Church in Natchitoches, LA.
Naomi Gibson, 84 years of age, passed away October 10, 2011.
Naomi was born March 20, 1927 to the late Rupert Edward Nelson and Susie Jordan Nelson in Robeline, LA. Naomi was a wonderful caregiver, loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She was a hard working and loving person with a humble heart. She always gave her best to please her family, and was very respectful. Naomi was very faithful to attend and help out at Old Bethel Baptist Church where she was a lifetime member. She was also a member of the Old Bethel Cemetery Committee, and enjoyed her times working in the cemetery. She truly loved to spend her time quilting and sewing. She truly was a great person, one whose memory will last forever. She will be dearly missed.
She was survived by five children, Joseph Edward Gibson and wife Sandra of Robeline, LA, Betty Jean Broadway and husband Garland of Robeline, LA, Dorothy Louise Gibson Miley of Robeline, LA, David Wayne Gibson and wife Tina of Marthaville, and Joey Wayne Allen and wife Alisha of Provencal, LA; thirteen grandchildren, Clint Gibson, Whitney Hendon, Zack Gibson, Michael Broadway, Dennis Broadway, Laurie Dobson, Lindsey Vascocu, Sarah Broadway, Jamie Grimes, William Ammons, Kasey Ensinger, Logan Gibson, Megan Allen, and Kendall Miley; twelve great grandchildren, Landon Hendon, Maddie Mendon, Payton Hendon, Andrew Broadway, Makenzie Broadway, Anniston Broadway, Branch Broadway, Jake Broadway, Taylor Dobson, Kayleigh Dobson, Jasper Ammons, Raegan Ensinger, Kaitlyn Miley, and Kelcie Miley; two brothers, Raymond Nelson and Jack Nelson; two sisters, Florence Carter and Polly Carver; and one close friend, Ruth Cotton.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Andrew Gibson; one son, William Eugene Gibson; and her parents, Rupert Edward Nelson and Susie Sarah Jordan Nelson.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers will be Kevin Berry, Zach Berry, Drew Gibson, Buddy Nelson, Kendall Miley, Joe D. Miller.
Honorary pallbearers will be her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
