Dr. Albert Wurster

Albert Clarence Wurster, DVM, was born on the 1st of November 1934 in Jonesville, Louisiana, and passed away the 23rd of October 2011. Services will be held at Blanchard-St. Denis Funeral Home in Natchitoches, Louisiana on Thursday, the 27th of October 2011, at 10:30 A.M. with burial at Jena Cemetery in Jena, Louisiana. The family will receive friends from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. on Wednesday, the 26th of October 2011 at Blanchard-St. Denis Funeral Home. Services will be officiated by the Reverend Dwight St. Andre. Dr. Wurster served in the U.S. Army prior to college. He received two BS degrees from Louisiana Tech in Ruston, Louisiana, followed by a Doctor’s degree in Veterinary Medicine from Texas A&M University in Bryan, Texas. He worked in a clinic in Sulfur, Louisiana, for one year, then moved to Natchitoches in December of 1964. He and his wife, Cherie Cooper Wurster, built a veterinary clinic where he continued to practice veterinary medicine for 46 years until the time of his death. “Doc,” as he was affectionately called, loved all of his pets, the outdoors, fishing and doing things “his way.” Dr. Wurster was a member of Westside Baptist Church and a past deacon. He was past vice-president of the Rotary Club and was president of the Natchitoches Academy. He also was an active board member of Fire District 6 and a past member of the Lion’s Club. He is preceded in death by his parents, Charles Wurster, Sr., and Mildred Wurster of Jonesville, Louisiana, and one brother, Robert John Wurster, of Bowling Green, Kentucky. He is survived by brothers, Charles Wurster, Jr. of Jonesville, Louisiana, and Cecil Wurster, of Rancho Mirage California; nieces, Lynda Deniger, Mildred Bean, Cynthia Cemini, and Charla Knapp; and grand nieces and nephews and many beloved friends. Dr. Wurster is also survived by his devoted wife of 55 years, Cherie Cooper Wurster; and one precious daughter, Danielle Wurster. The three worked together as a team at the clinic. The clinic was always his “life,” where he loved and enjoyed working with his beloved clients and all their pets. His life was filled with many animals, and the loves of his life were God, his family, and all the friends, clients and their little animals. Pallbearers are Kenny Alford, Ronnie Dowden, Buddy Lott, Ross Desadier, Bryan Wimberly, and Leon Burns. Honorary pallbearers are the members of Fire District 6. The family wishes to thank all of you who prayed so hard, and for so long, for his recovery from two unsuccessful surgeries. May God bless each of you. In lieu of flowers, we request you remember: Natchitoches Humane Society, Hope for Paws, and Tracy Penrod’s “George’s Hounds and Kittens.”
