William Philip Hayne II, a loving husband, father, and grandfather, known to both family and friends as “Mr. Bill”, passed away peacefully on October 24th 2011 at Natchitoches Regional Medical Center. A rite of Christian burial is scheduled for Friday October 28th, 2011, at 2pm at the Basilica of Immaculate Conception, 145 Church Street, Natchitoches, La. 71458. Officiating the service will be Rev. Scott Chemino, JCL, VG, Diocese of Alexandria. Interment will follow in Greenwood Memorial Park, 2202 Military Highway, Pineville, La 71360. Visitation is scheduled for Thursday, Oct 27th, 2011 from 5:30 until 7:30 at Blanchard-St. Denis Funeral home, 848 Keyser Ave. Natchitoches, LA 71457.
Mr. Hayne was born on July 19th 1926 in Mansura, La. He spent his early years from 1927 until 1941 growing up in Natchitoches La. Following graduation from
Bolton High School, and after service in the U.S.Army Air Corp, he went on to attend college at both Tulane University in New Orleans, and Louisiana College in Pineville.
He began his career in 1947 in the cottonseed oil industry with the family owned Independent Mill and Gin Company. He had a successful career as the general manager for oil mills in Alexandria, LA, Minter City MS, Lubbock TX, and Natchitoches LA. He was the president of several state oil seed associations. He retired in 1994 from the Archer-Daniels-Midland company.
He was active in the Catholic Church wherever he lived serving as a Eucharistic Minister, a PSR instructor, and being a member of the Knights of Columbus. His strong faith gave him the strength to overcome many challenges. He fought a good fight and will be greatly missed by all.
Mr. Hayne was preceded in death by his mother, Kathleen Dunnam Hayne, father, Christopher Lindsey Hayne, daughter, Lindsey Louise Hayne, son, Thomas Houston Hayne, and his sister, Kathleen Hayne Foltz.
He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Joyce Greene Hayne, their son, William (Bill) Hayne and his wife Liz, grandchildren, Heather Hayne Edwards and her husband Jonathan, Brian Christopher Hayne and his wife Alex, and his precious great granddaughter, Addison Cait Edwards, all of Atlanta, Georgia. Mr. Hayne is also survived by his younger brother Christopher Lindsey Hayne and his wife Patricia, of Foley Beach, Alabama.
Pallbearers will be David Bouchie, Harold Braden, Roger Ferrier, Sonny Gallien, Ralph Ingram, Jack McCain Jr., Hayne O’Shee, Graham Ragland, and Sonny Sklar.
Honorary pallbearers are Woodrow Cox, E.V. Moore, Ray Ponthieux and Richard Ragland.
Memorials may be made to the Basilica of Immaculate Conception or to the charity of your choice.
