A service to celebrate the life of Raymond “Butch” Cedars, Jr. will be 2 pm Tuesday, November 8, 2011 in the chapel of Blanchard St. Denis Funeral Home with Reverend Randy Olliff officiating. Interment will follow at Memory Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5 pm until 9 pm on Monday, November 7, 2011 at Blanchard St. Denis Funeral Home.
Butch Cedars, 60 years of age, passed away Saturday, November 5, 2011 in Winnfield, LA after a brief battle with liver cancer. He was born January 13, 1951 in Shreveport, LA. Sergeant Cedars was employed as a correctional officer at the CCA Winn Correctional Center in Winnfield, LA. His true love was music and he never missed an opportunity to play the drums. He was devoted to the LORD and read his bible daily. He enjoyed sharing Christ with others and did so whenever possible. He loved his family and treasured moments with each of them. Butch had a wonderful sense of humor and he will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory his mother, Bobbie Garner of Winnfield; father, Raymond Cedars, Sr. of Natchitoches; wife, Lu Cedars of Granbury, TX; sons, Aramis Cedars of Garland, TX, Billy Moon Cedars of Dallas, TX, and Beau Jeffery Cedars of Dallas, TX; daughters, Mary Matilda Cedars of Ft. Lauderdale, FL and Rachel Cedars of Arlington, TX; sisters, Edwina Hayward of Natchitoches, Marianne Morrison of Pineville, Catherine
“CJ” Cedars of Natchitoches; brothers, Bobby Joe Cedars of Natchitoches, Brock Cedars of Jasper, TX and Ricky Cedars of Jasper, TX. He was blessed with 5 grandchildren, 6 nephews and 3 nieces.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers include: Travis Wallace, Dickey Adkins, Sammy Nix, Brian Cedars, Brandon Cedars and Wayne Tibbits. Correctional officers of the the Dogwood Unit at the Winn Parish Correctional Center will be honorary pallbearers.
