Funeral service for Obra Lee Rawls will be held at 1:00 pm on Monday, November 28, 2011 at Jennings Chapel Congregational Methodist Church in Marthaville, LA with Rev. Ed Fenton and Rev. Brian Ray officiating. Interment will follow at Bethany Cemetery in Marthaville, LA. The family will receive friends at 5:00 pm on November 27, 2011 at Jennings Chapel Congregational Methodist Church in Marthaville, LA.
Obra Rawls, 87 years of age, passed away November 25, 2011. Obra was born October 10, 1924 to the late Joel W. Rawls and Myrtlee Dyess Rawls in Marthaville, LA. "Lee" was a wonderful and caring husband, father, grandfather, and uncle. He spent the majority of his life serving his country in the U. S. Army. He lived in Germany for 45 years, where he met his wife, Edith. After retiring from the military, he and Edith traveled extensively throughout Germany and most of Europe. Lee was very humorous, had a great wit, was very intelligent, and loved animals. He was truly a great man and patriot, and will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Edith Linn Rawls of Natchitoches, LA, one daughter, Jackie Kokosa of Ludlow, MA; four grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joel "Joe" Rawls and Myrtle Dyess Rawls; one daughter, Helen Dupont; and one sister, Myrle Birdwell
Those honored to serve as pallbearers will be Ronald Dyess, Brad Sandifer, Drake Averitt, Jerry Sandifer, Jack Harvill, and J.W. Kelly.
