Marion Eugenia “Gene” Hickman Watson

Funeral services for Marion Eugenia “Gene” Hickman Watson will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, August 4, 2007 in the Church of the Immaculate Conception with Fr. Stephen Scott Chemino officiating. Burial will be in the Catholic Cemetery in Natchitoches under the direction of Blanchard St. Denis Funeral Home.
Vistitation will be Friday,August 3, 2007, from 5-7:30 p.m. with a rosary service at 6:30 p.m.
Mrs. Watson, 96, of Natchitoches died July 31, 2007 at her home.
Mrs. Watson was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Chopin Watson, a prominent attorney and businessman.
She is survived by daughters, Marion Bienvenu and her husband, Dr. Oscar J. Bienvenu, Jr., and Saidee Newell of Natchitoches, Louisiana; Eugenie Chopin of Johannesburg, South Africa; grandchildren: Marianne Steckler and husband, Shaun, of Lafayette, LA; Eugenie Murray-Brown and husband, Andrew,of Hingham, MA; Dr. Oscar J. Bienvenu III and wife, Holly, of Baltimore, Maryland; Blanche Elise Watson Bienvenu of Baton Rouge, LA; Arthur Watson Newell and wife, Pam, of Houston, TX; Emily Feiner and husband, Bob, of Austin, TX and ten great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Watson received her nursing degree from Touro Infirmary in New Orleans and did private duty nursing prior to her marriage. She was a founding member of Natchitoches Service League, Natchitoches Parish Hospital Pink Ladies, and the Association for the Preservation of Historic Natchitoches. She was a member of the board of directors of Association for the Preservation of Historic Natchitoches, The Foundation for the Preservation of the Caroline Dormon Nature Preserve, Inc., and Exchange Bank & Trust Co. She was a member at-large of the National Society of Colonial Dames of the State of Louisiana.

The family wishes to thank her caregivers: Henrietta Anthony, Willie D.
