Funeral service for Shirley Raye Cooper Slimer will be held 10 AM Thursday, August 9, 2007 in The Church of the Immaculate Conception in Natchitoches, La. with Rev. Ryan Humpheries officiating. Graveside service will be 1 PM Thursday, August 9, 2007 in Forest Park Cemetery on St. Vincent Avenue at Shreveport, La. Visitation will be Wednesday, August 8, 2007 from 5 PM until 9 PM with a rosary at 7 PM in Blanchard St. Denis Funeral Home and visitation on Thursday, August 9, 2007 from 8 AM until 9:30 AM in the funeral home. Mrs. Slimer, 79, of Natchitoches, La., died Monday, August 6, 2007, at Natchitoches Regional Medical Center in Natchitoches, La. She was a native of Hagewood, La. She was a former registered nurse and retired from the City of Natchitoches Sales Tax Department. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Council On Aging, and Cane River Stompers Line Dancers. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bernard J. Slimer; parents, James Monroe Cooper and Susan Katherine Holt Cooper; sisters, Maxine Harrison, Louise Berry, Margaret Wheat; brothers, Bobby Cooper, Harold Cooper, and Mervin Cooper; She is survived by one brother, Alton M. Cooper of Natchitoches, La.; numerous nieces and nephews Pallbearers will be Joe Berry, Don Harrison, Dale Cooper, Barney Cooper, Mike Cooper, and Bobby Cooper, Jr. Honorary pallbearers will be Dewey Page and Joe Sampite.
