A Mass of Christian Burial for Francis A. Vercher will be held Saturday, January 7, 2012, at 10:00 a.m. at the Minor Basilica of the Immaculate Conception Church with Rev. John Cunningham officiating. Visitation for family and friends will be Friday, January 6, 2012, from 5:00-7:00 p.m. with a rosary at 7:00 p.m. at Blanchard St. Denis Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Marthaville Cemetery.
Francis, age 75, a native of Natchitoches passed away on Tuesday, January 3, 2012 in Shreveport, LA. He was born on September 13, 1936 to Willie and Laurine Kerry Vercher in Cloutierville, LA. He was a retired engineer for the State of Louisiana Highway Dept., and a retired First Sergeant from the National Guard. He was also a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus, and Woodmen of the World.
He is preceded in death by his parents Willie and Laurine Kerry Vercher; wife of 54 years, Lynda Winn Vercher; daughter, Terri Vercher Bourland.
He is survived by his son, Matt Vercher and wife Lorraine of Natchitoches, LA.; his daughter, Donna Vercher LaCour and husband Ormond of Shreveport, LA.; his son-in-law, Tom Bourland of Shreveport, LA.; his grandchildren, Mary Vercher Mills and husband Thomas and their children Cade and Matthew; Casey Barberousse; Aimee Barberousse Fagan and husband Matt and their children Kaylee and Emma; Madeline LaCour and Sarah Catherine LaCour; and his brothers, Willie Vercher of Alvarado, TX and Michael Vercher and wife Barbara of Bossier City, LA.
