Welber "Jake" Wright Welch

Funeral service for Welber “Jake” Wright Welch will be held at 1:00 pm on Friday, January 20, 2012 at Blanchard - St. Denis Funeral Home in Natchitoches, LA. Interment will follow at Fern Park Cemetery in Natchitoches, LA. The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm until 9:00 pm on January 19, 2012 at Blanchard - St. Denis Funeral Home in Natchitoches, LA. “Jake”, 84 years of age, passed away January 17, 2012. Welber was born May 8, 1927 to the late Luther Welch and Annie Scarbrough Welch in Hicks, LA. He was wonderful and caring father, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend. He was a hard worker, good cook, and an anchor for his family. Jake enlisted in the Army Air Corps during WWII and served in the European Theatre. He lived a simple and quiet life, yet left a great legacy for his family. He would help anyone in need, and will be dearly missed by his family and friends. He is survived by his daughter, Janet Welch Singleton and husband Paul of Benton, LA; one son, Ronald Welch and wife Diane of Lebanon, TN; one daughter in law, Patricia Welch of Goldonna, LA; twelve grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren; one sister, Katherine Welch Marshall and husband Carlton of FLorida; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. He was preceded in death by his son, Danny Michael Welch; his parents, Luther Welch and Annie Louise Scarbrough Welch; two sisters; and four brothers. Those honored to serve as pallbearers will be Gary Welch, Justin Lumpkin, Mark Lumpkin, Christopher DeMary, Sammy Ragan, Tyler Welch. Honorary pallbearers will be Jonathan Lumpkin and Christopher "Boo" DeMary.
