A service to celebrate the life of Annie Pass Hough will be held at 10 a.m, Monday January 30, 2012 , in the chapel of Blanchard St. Denis Funeral Home in Natchitoches, Louisiana with the Reverend Gary DeSalvo officiating. Interment will follow at Cassell Cemetery in Noble, Louisiana. The family will receive friends and relatives from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Sunday, January 29th at Blanchard St. Denis Funeral Home.
Mrs. Hough passed away on Friday, January 27, 2012 in Natchitoches. She was born in Noble, Louisiana to the late John Shumate Pass and the late Willie Amanda Cassell. She was preceded in death by her brother, Ray W. Pass, Sr.; her husband, Marshall J. Hough, Sr.; one son, Marshall J. Hough, Jr.; one daughter, Gloria Ann Hough; and one grandson, Marshall J. Hough, III.
Left to cherish her memory include: one sister, Katherine Pass Edwards of Ashboro, North Carolina; two sons, Bill Hough and wife, Amy, and Tom Hough, all of Natchitoches; and one daughter, Bev DeSalvo and husband, Gary, of Temple, Texas. She was blessed with nine grandchildren and nineteen great-grandchildren.
A native of North Sabine Parish, Annie grew up in Noble. She was born on March 20, 1922. She graduated from Noble High School with honors and received the American Legion Award. After graduation she married her childhood sweetheart in 1940.
After her husband returned from World War II, the couple established residency in
Winnfield, Louisiana. During this time she attended Northwestern State College while
raising five children. She received a Bachelor of Science degree in Education and a
Masters degree in Special Education, after which she taught at Sikes, Dodson, Calvin and
Westside Elementary in Winnfield.
In 1968 the family moved to Natchitoches where she taught at St. Matthews in Melrose,
Louisiana. In 1971 the family relocated to Baton Rouge, Louisiana where she taught
in both East and West Baton Rouge parishes for three years. In 1974 Annie’s husband
retired from the Soil Conservation Service and they moved back to Natchitoches. Upon
returning, she taught at Gorum High School where she retired.
Annie chose to devote her time to her family and friends after retirement. She embraced
the roles of wife, mother and grandmother and enjoyed spending time with her many
friends. Her memory will be cherished by all.
Honoring her as pallbearers will be Cody Hough, Daniel DeSalvo, Trey Fulton, Trey
Davis, Blake Kitchen, Taylor Varisco, Greg Edwards and Ray Pass, Jr.
