Funeral service for Charles Calvin Nash will be held at 1:00 pm on Tuesday, February 7, 2012 at Fairview Alpha Baptist Church in Fairview Alpha, LA with Rev. Matt Endris officiating. Interment will follow at Fairview Alpha Baptist Cemetery in Fairview Alpha, LA. The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm until 9:00 pm on February 6, 2012 at Blanchard - St. Denis Funeral Home in Natchitoches, LA.
Charles “Charlie” Nash, 56 years of age, passed away February 4, 2012.
Charlie was born April 25, 1955 to Jimmie Nash and Norma Hadaway Nash in Houston, TX. He graduated from New Caney High School on April 19th, 1977. After graduation, he married Bettye Collins Nash and they made their home in Goldonna, LA. Charlie was a dedicated Christian and member of Fairview Baptist Church in Fairview Alpha, LA, where he served on Building and Grounds and AWANA for many years. He reflected the light of Christ to all he witnessed to. Everyone remembers him for his bright smile and belly laugh. Charlie worked at the Campti paper mill for 26 years. He took a medical retirement in October, 2001 after a brain aneurysm. He always enjoyed cooking, hunting, and spending time with his family.
He was a loving husband, father, and grandpa to his family. He was called Paw Paw by all of his grandbabies. He was truly a great man and will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his wife, Bettye Collins Nash of Goldonna, LA; two sons, Jolley Nash and wife Jessica of Coushatta, LA and Joshua Nash and fiancé’ Katie Klopping of Coushatta, LA; two daughters, Nicole Dove and husband Micky of Natchitoches, LA and Coree McKnight and husband Dustin of Goldonna, LA; nine grandchildren, Melody Dove, Tabitha Dove, Hunter Dove, Chloe Nash, Gunner Nash, Asa Nash, Gabriel McKnight, Teegan McKnight, and Kyson McKnight; his mother, Norma Hadaway Nash of Lufkin, TX; one sister, Carolyn Sue Elmore of Texas; and three brothers, James Nash and wife Dale, Gary Nash, and Curtis Nash, all of Texas; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Jimmie Nash.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers will be Kenny Sullivan, Larry Cole, Charles Ray Cannon, Enyart Mitchell, Robert Burleson, and Ernest Bailey. Honorary pallbearers will be Rayburn Covington, Dennis Brossette, Donnie Cox, Dean Walters, and Jimmy McKnight.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude and love to his doctors; Dr. Robert McMillan, Dr. Amiri, Dr. Zibari, and special love to nurse Terri, his transplant coordinator; and also would like to thank Willis Knighton North Facility and entire staff.
