Funeral service for Carol Burkett will be held at 1:00 pm on Thursday, February 16, 2012 at Blanchard - St. Denis Funeral Home in Natchitoches, LA with Rev. Butch Rogers officiating. Interment will follow at Memory Lawn Cemetery in Natchitoches, LA. The family will receive friends from 5:0 pm until 7:00 pm on February 15, 2012 at Blanchard - St. Denis Funeral Home in Natchitoches, LA. Carol Burkett, 70 years of age, passed away February 12, 2012. She was born October 20, 1941 to the late Cassius Dumont and Thelma Manning Dumont in Stockbridge, VT. Carol was a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She enjoyed many things in life, including reading and crocheting. She lived a simple life, but affecting many with her loving care and compassion. She was a wonderful lady, and will be dearly missed by her family and friends. She was survived by her two daughters, Tina Coffey and husband Russell of Natchitoches, LA and Crystal Slaughter and husband Derek of Natchitoches, LA; one son, Steven Burkett and wife Monica of Many, LA; 12 grandchildren, Derrick McCart and wife Marci, Melanie Sanders, Jake McCart, Jenny Hancock and husband Chad, Jeremy McCart and wife Christina, Scott Coffey, Mark Coffey, Anna Coffey, Adam Burkett, Meghan Burkett, Nathan Slaughter, and Layla Slaughter, all of Natchitoches, LA; and five great grandchildren, Mikey McCart, Gregory Sanders, Brayden Sanders, Ian Sanders, and Addison McCart. She was preceded in death by her parents, Cassius Dumont and Thelma Manning Dumont; her grandson, Tyler Burkett; and her husband of many years, William Burkett. Those honored to serve as pallbearers will be Derrick McCart, Jake McCart, Mark Coffey, Scott Coffey, Chad Hancock, and Adam Burkett.
