Edwin "Gene" Roberts

A Mass of Christian Burial for Mr. Gene Roberts will be 10:30 am Thursday, February 23, 2012 at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Spanish Lake, LA with Rev. Antony Alevanthara officiating. Interment will follow at St. Ann’s Catholic Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5 pm until 9 pm on Wednesday, February 22, 2012 at Blanchard St. Denis Funeral Home. Recitation of the Rosary will be at 7 pm on Wednesday in the chapel of Blanchard St. Denis Funeral Home. After the Rosary, words of comfort will be given by Pastor McConnaughey, Pastor Ernest Rains and Pastor Howard Strickland. Edwin E. “Gene” Roberts was born September 18, 1951 and passed away February 19, 2012 after suffering from a cardiac arrest in October 0f 2011. Gene was preceded in death by his parents, Edwin Roberts and Ruth Bass. He leaves behind a loving wife and soul mate, Debra Roberts; a step-son, Gregory Carrizal, Jr.; his daughter, Angel Roberts and her children, Jason Roberts, Thomas Bolger, Emagin Roberts; his son, Edwin Roberts, II; great nieces, Aniana Singer and Juliana Singer, who he called his loving “granddaughters”; sisters, Dorothy Strickland and her husband Howard and Sharlett Currier and her husband Greg; as well as numerous in-laws, nieces, nephews and close friends who will miss our times at fish fries, birthday parties, super bowl parties, and tamale making parties. Gene was always smiling, joking with a kind heart for all he loved. He loved to hunt, fish and travel with his wife, Debra. Those honored to serve as pallbearers include: Charlie Moore, D.H. Flores, Chris Davis, John Singer, Wayne Moore, and Charlie Solice. The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to all the staff at Guest House for the excellent care he received. A special thanks to Willis Knighton North MICU, Life Care and to Dr. Huan Le for all their special care, kindness and support to Gene and Debra. May God bless these wonderful people.
