Mr. Floyd Thompson, 85, of Natchitoches passed away on March 1, 2012 at the Courtyard of Natchitoches. Mr. Thompson was born August 28, 1926 to late Leo “Bill” Thompson and the late Cleo Patterson Thompson.
Mr. Thompson was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and served in World War II where he was assigned to the U.S.S. Lenora. He was a farmer and commercial fisherman and served as Marshall in Clarence, LA. He owned and operated a number of service stations in Clarence, Campti and Natchitoches. He was a member of the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars. He loved the outdoors and especially hunting and fishing with his son.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Sara Landrum Thompson, his parents, and siblings, Louise Thompson Lashley and Richard Olden Thompson.
Left to cherish his memory is his son, Keith Wayne Thompson and his wife Susie of Natchitoches; grandson, Gregory Wayne Thompson of Houston, TX; granddaughters, Brandi Renee Thompson and Christi Lynn Scott and her husband Kyle; great grandson, Dillon Blaine Thompson and great granddaughter, Sydney Michelle Fuller all of Natchitoches. He is also survived by his sisters, Ann Thompson Stone and Alice Thompson McManus; two brothers, Lee Charles Thompson and Jerry Allen Thompson and his wife Linda; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
A memorial service will be held 6 pm Monday, March 5, 2012 in the chapel of Blanchard St. Denis with Deacon Joe Peltier officiating. Mr. Thompson made the charitable contribution of donating his body for medical research.
The family requests, in lieu of flowers, donations are made to St. Jude’s Children Research Hospital or a charity of your choice.
