Funeral service for Joshua David Potts will be held 2:30 PM Saturday, September 22, 2007 in The Family Worship Center on Black Lake near Campti, La. with Rev. Dan Chance and Rev. William Johno officiating. Burial will be in Black Lake Full Gospel Cemetery under the direction of Blanchard St. Denis Funeral Home of Natchitoches, La. Visitation will be Friday, September 21, 2007 from 5 PM until 9 PM and on Saturday, September 22, 2007 from 8 AM until 12 Noon in the funeral home. Joshua Potts, 18, of Campti, La., died Monday, September 17, 2007, at Halifax Hospital in Daytona Beach, Fl. He was a native of Campti, La. He graduated valedictorian from Lakeview High School in May of 2007. He was a member of Junior R.O.T.C. Drill Team at Lakeview High School. He was a freshman and was awarded a four year scholarship from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Daytona Beach, Fl. in Computer Engineering and the Air Force R.O.T.C. under a three year scholarship. Joshua was a member of Beta Club, Student Council, FCA, Spanish Club, Quiz Bowl and the Yearbook Staff at Lakeview. He was a second degree Black Belt in Shorin-Ryu Karate and was listed as an outstanding instructor with The International Matsumura Seito Society. He was preceded in death by his mother, Dayle Davis Potts; paternal grandfather, I. V. Potts, Sr.; paternal grandmother, Dorothy Pardee Johnson; step-paternal grandfather, Joseph Dalewood Johnson; maternal grandfather, David Henry Davis, Jr.. He is survived by his father, I. V. Potts, Jr. of Campti, La.; one sister, Jennifer Lindsey Potts of Campti, La.; one half-brother, Cody Lane Potts of Campti, La.; maternal grandmother, Shirley Hurt Davis of Campit, La.; numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. Pallbearers will be Brian Neal, Clint Duplechian, Mark Williams, Major Bob Kellogg, T/Sgt. Kenny Minchew, and Terry Williams. Honorary pallbearers will be members and former members of The Junior R.O.T.C. Drill Team at Lakeview High School.
