Howell Gurvis Martin, Sr.

A graveside service for Howell Gurvis Martin, Sr. will be 11 am Saturday, April 28, 2012 at Calvary Baptist Church Cemetery in the Oak Grove Community. The family will receive friends from 9 am until 10:45 am Saturday, April 28, 2012 at Blanchard St. Denis Funeral Home. Mr. Martin, 88 years of age, passed away Tuesday, April 24, 2012. He was born February 12, 1924 to the late Monroe Martin and the late Kizzie (Whatley) Martin in Mora, LA. He proudly served in the United States Army during World War II. He served in the 808th Chemical Company Air Operations which was stationed in the European Theatre. Serving his country was one of his proudest achievements because he truly loved his country. Those left to cherish his memory include his daughter, Linda Amerson and her husband Pat of Hot Springs, AR; son, Howell Martin, Jr. and his wife Valerie of Magnolia, TX; sisters, Guinevere Dietrich and Katherine Sims both of Natchitoches; grandson, Chad Amerson and his wife Christi of Hot Springs,AR and two great grandson’s, Nicholas and Lucas Amerson. Those honored to serve as pallbearers include: Brian Martin, Kent Martin, Roger Dietrich, Pat Amerson, Chad Amerson, Nicholas Amerson and Lucas Amerson. Honorary Pallbearers will be Donnie Martin and Roger Chatman.
