Horace Solice

Funeral services for Horace Solice will be held at 10:00 am on Tuesday, May 1, 2012 at Blanchard - St. Denis Funeral Home in Natchitoches, LA with Fr. Jacob Thomas officiating. Interment will follow at Fern Park Cemetery in Natchitoches, LA. The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm, with a rosary held at 5:30 pm, on April 30, 2012 at Blanchard - St. Denis Funeral Home in Natchitoches, LA. Horace Solice, 90 years of age, passed away April 29, 2012. Horace was born July 29, 1921 to the late Pink Solice and Gertrude Flores Solice in Spanish Lake, LA. Mr. Horace was a veteran of the United States Army, and was at service during WWII. He finished high school in Robeline, LA and later attended and finished Barber School in Shreveport, LA. He was a barber in Natchitoches for over 54 years. He was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Natchitoches since 1952. He will be missed by his family and friends. He was survived by his wife of 55 years, Oma Solice of Natchitoches, LA; his sister, Adeline Moore; two sister-in-laws, Eunive Trahan and Helen Newson; and one brother-in-law, Joe Schelette. He was preceded in death by his parents, Pink Solice and Gertrude Flores Solice; his grandmother who raised him, Victoria Flores; and three brothers, Vernie Solice, Thad Solice, and Gaddies Solice. Pallbearers will be Dewey Page, Joe Schelette, Alfred Saavedra, Wayne Moore, Hank Simmons, and David Sparks. The family wishes to thank the staff at the Courtyard of Natchitoches and Natchitoches Hospice for all of their care and support.
