A service to honor the life of Robert George Singletary will be 2 pm Friday, May 25, 2012 at First Baptist Church of Provencal. Interment will follow at New Cedron Cemetery near Vowels Mill under the direction of Blanchard St. Denis Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 5 pm until 9 pm on Thursday, May 24, 2012 at Blanchard St. Denis Funeral Home.
Mr. Singletary, 85 years of age, passed away Wednesday, May 23, 2012 in Madisonville, Texas. He was born January 10, 1927 to the late Asa and Nora (Honeycutt) Singletary. He proudly served in the United States Navy during World War II. He was a devoted husband, loving father and a close friend to many.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Asa and Nora Singletary; sister, Irene Byrd; and grandchildren, Marie Milam and Robbie Cobb.
Those left to cherish her memory include his wife, Melva Singletary; sons, Pat Singletary, Tim Singletary, and Rusty Milam; daughters, Sharon Cobb and Karen Smith; brother, James Cleveland Singletary; grandchildren, Dagan Singletary, Gareth Singletary, Stephen Singletary, Matthew Singletary, Christine Singletary, Laura Huff, Hanna Milam, Grady Milam, Abbey Milam, Sammy Cobb, Jenna Sulzer, and Johnathan Cobb.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers include: Pat Singletary, Tim Singletary, Dagan Singletary, Gareth Singletary, Matthew Singletary and Stephen Singletary.
