Reverend Earl Thomas Marr was born August 4, 1917 in Marthaville, La. He passed away May 28, 2012 in the Natchitoches Regional Medical Center after a brief illness. He was 94 years old. Rev Marr had been a resident of the Courtyard of Natchitoches for almost two years.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Loma Inzer Marr and his parents James Thomas Marr and Orillia Davis Marr.
He is survived by two sons, Ferrel T. Marr and his wife Rose of Natchitoches and Dr. Carroll D. Marr and his wife Tanya of Ft. Worth, TX; one granddaughter, Rachel Noel Marr of Natchitoches; four grandsons, Joshua T. Marr of Changsha, China, James Michael Marr and his wife Tressa of Rockwall, TX, Daniel T. Marr and his wife Christina of Natchitoches and John D. Marr of Ft. Worth, TX; a sister, Viola Patterson of Clinton, AR.
Rev. Marr served as a pastor for over 40 years. He pastored at Cedar Grove Baptist in Marthaville, Oak Grove Baptist in Colfax, Pee Dee Baptist in Clinton, AR, Mt. Carmel Baptist Church of Florien, Calvary Baptist Church of Natchitoches, Alford Heights Baptist Church of Many, Fisher Baptist Church of Fisher and Ebenezer Baptist of Florien.
He served many years in the ministry throughout Louisiana and Arkansas. With his beloved wife of 60 years, Loma, they taught, pastored and ministered and loved the members of each congregation. His prayers and support for the churches of Louisiana will be sorely missed.
A service to honor his life will be 10 am Thursday, May 31, 2012 at Calvary Baptist Church of Natchitoches with Rev. Cecil Marr and Rev. Lee Dickson officiating. Interment will follow at Ft. Jesup Cemetery in Ft. Jesup, LA. The family will receive friends from 5pm until 9pm on Wednesday, May 30, 2012 at Blanchard St. Denis Funeral Home and again the day of service from 9 am until service at the church.
