Bessie (Leo) Martin

A service to celebrate the life of Bessie (Leo) Martin will be 10 am Saturday, June 9, 2012 in the chapel of Blanchard St. Denis Funeral Home with Rev. Michael Perkins officiating. Interment will follow at Fern Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5 pm until 9 pm on Friday, June 8, 2012 at Blanchard St. Denis Funeral Home. Mrs. Martin, 74 years of age, passed away Wednesday, June 6, 2012 in Natchitoches, LA. She was born December 23, 1937 in Natchitoches, LA. She worked for many years as a receptionist and phone operator for the Sears store in Natchitoches. She was a loving mother, grandmother and sister and will be dearly missed by her family and friends. Those left to cherish her memory include her son, David Martin and his wife Marcie of Fairview Alpha; sisters, Bonnie Lofton and her husband Harold of West Monroe, Lawsey Hathaway and her husband Allen of Lafayette, IN, Mary Ann Senn and her husband Lynn of Natchitoches and Betty Somerset of Pensacola, FL; brothers, Ray Leo of Mountain Home, AR and Joe Leo and his wife Brenda of Florien; grandchildren, Jared Martin of Baton Rouge, Jace Martin of Fairview Alpha, Jacob Martin of Fairview Alpha and Ethan Gray of Fairview Alpha; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, David and Corine Leo; sisters, Doris Cadwallader and Gertrude Martin. Those honored to serve as pallbearers include: Jared Martin, Eddie Foust, David Foust, Jr., Alvin Cadwallader, Jr., David Cadwallader, and Chad Thorton. The family would like to extend their appreciation to LA Extended Care Hospital, Dr. Kathleen Kautz and The Courtyard of Natchitoches for the exceptional care given to Bessie. The family would also like to thank Pastor Michael Perkins for his prayers and compassion during this difficult time.
