Shirley Ann Ward

A service to celebrate the life of Shirley Ann Ward will be 2 pm Sunday June 24, 2012 in the chapel of Blanchard St. Denis with Brother Cecil Boswell officiating. Interment will follow at Bellwood Cemetery, Bellwood, LA. The family will receive friends from 5 pm until 9 pm on Saturday, June 23, 2012 at Blanchard St. Denis Funeral Home. Shirley Ann Ward, 72 years of age, passed away Thursday, June 21, 2012 in Natchitoches, LA. She was born in Harrisville, MS to Carlis Ward and Eula Bell (Booty ) Ward. She earned a Master of Education degree from Northwestern State University. Shirley taught school in Calcasieu Parish for thirty-three years. She was a member of XI Beta Delta chapter of Beta Sigma Phi sorority for forty years as well as a member of the national teachers’ sorority Alpha Delta Kappa. Upon retirement, she returned to the small community of Lotus where she was raised. Those left to cherish her memory include her sisters, Mandy Inez Ward, Rosa Lee Ward DeMille, Joy Maxine Ward Wester and Peggy Sue Ward Lindsey; her brothers, James Carlis Ward, Lee Allen Ward, Robert Hulon Ward and Michael Ray Ward; nephews and nieces, Sean Wester, Jason Wester, Marcus Ward, Jim Ward, Wendy Varnell Allen, Danny Varnell, Adam Varnell, Becky Varnell, Hugh Ward, Randall Ward, Josh Ward and a host of great nephews and great nieces as well as many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Carlis Ward and Eula Bell Booty Ward and her brother, John Ward. Those honored to serve as pallbearers include: Elton Allen, Adam Varnell, Joshua Ward, Jim Ward, Hugh Ward and Freddy Bynog. Marcus Ward will serve as an honorary pallbearer.
