Charles Richard Ragland died June 25, 2012 at his home in Natchitoches, Louisiana after a brave battle with cancer. Richard was a beloved brother to Russell and son to Graham and Shirley Ragland. He was known for his kindness, gentle nature, sense of humor, unwavering positive outlook, and his engaging smile that touched everyone he met. Richard was a passionate sports, nature, and film fan who loved to fish and spend afternoons talking and laughing with his family and friends. Richard was born on July 15, 1970 in Richmond, Virginia and graduated from John F. Kennedy High School in Silver Spring, Maryland. He lived in Virginia, New Jersey and Maryland before moving to Natchitoches with his family in 1998. Richard was a member of the Basilica of the Immaculate Conception. He is survived by his father Graham K. Ragland of Natchitoches and his brother Russell Ragland of New York City. Richard was preceded in death by his mother Mary Shirley Rachal Ragland, who passed away in 2005. Services will be held Thursday, June 28 at 10:00 AM at the Basilica of the Immaculate Conception with Father Scott Chemino officiating. Visitation will be held from 6:30 – 8 PM Wednesday June 27, with Rosary at 7:00 PM, at Blanchard-St. Denis Funeral Home in Natchitoches. Interment will be in American Cemetery in Natchitoches. Pallbearers will be David Bouchie, Dave Delaney, Robert Doughty, Jerry Ferguson, John Laborde, and Charles Lee. The family would like to thank Marilyn Wilson, Dr. John Hogg, and the nurses at Natchitoches Hospice, particularly Glenda Guillet, for the loving care given to Richard during his illness.
