Funeral services for Joseph Brooks Scarbrough will be held at 1:00 pm on Tuesday, July 3, 2012 at Fountain of Life United Pentecostal Church in Natchitoches, LA with Rev. Cecil Boswell officiating. Interment will follow at Provencal Cemetery in Provencal, LA. The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm until 9:00 pm on July 2, 2012 at Fountain of Life United Pentecostal Church in Natchitoches, LA.
Joseph Joey Scarbrough, 62 years of age, passed away July 1, 2012. Joseph was born April 16, 1950 to the late J. B. Scarbrough and Lucille Johnson Scarbrough in Natchitoches, LA. Joey was a great friend. He was a loving husband and father first and foremost, and was a father figure to many outside of his family. He influenced many young people in his life, never turned away a stranger, and would help anyone in need. Joey worked as a carpenter for many years, building many houses in Natchitoches and the surrounding area.
Joey was a member of the Mason’s for 15 years. He was the Worshipful Master of Middle Creek Lodge #321 and was a member of Robeline Lodge #344. He played many sports, such as softball and baseball, but his favorite was basketball. He was also a great musician. He enjoyed playing music with his peers, trying any instrument, but his favorite was the guitar. Joey was a great role model, friend, and companion, and he will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Judy Davis Scarbrough of Provencal, LA; three daughters, Lisa Alexander and husband Scott, Rebecca Carbin and husband Steven, and Bailey Scarbrough, all of Provencal, LA; one brother, Dennis Scarbrough and wife Renee' of Provencal, LA; four sisters, Sherry Mitchell of Provencal, LA, Sue Turnley and husband Kenny of Provencal, LA, Jean Ivy of Provencal, LA, Becky Broadway and husband Randy of Provencal, LA; and a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, J. B. Scarbrough and Lucille Johnson Scarbrough; one sister, Barbara Graves; and one brother, Lavelle Scarbrough.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers will be Hayden Warner, Jacob Davis, Danny Graves, Joseph Huff, Clay Ebarb, and Jason Warren.
