Mary Jane was a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother. She enjoyed family life and was well known for her beautiful afghans, which received several blue ribbons at parish fairs. Her interests included cooking, sewing, crocheting, camping, and most importantly, spending time with her family. Mary Jane was always giving of herself either at work or at home. She retired from Northwestern State University as a secretary for the Dean of Liberal Arts. Many will miss her volunteer work for the Natchitoches Folk Festival. She was a generous, kind, and loving woman and will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry Wostenberg and Clara Clark Wostenberg; husband, Gary Dean Day; two sisters, Ilene Johnson, and Maxine Black.
She is survived by her two daughters: Christine Edwards and husband, Terry, of Crosby, TX and Valerie Hausberger of Highlands, TX; one son, Kyle Day and wife, Vera, of Provencal, LA; nine grandchildren: Crystal Thomas and husband John Charles Thomas III, Sara Edwards, Hollie Edwards, Sean Day, Heather Day, Jayme Day, Randy Cheek, Robin Cheek, and Victoria Tovo; three great grandchildren: John Charles Thomas IV, Alan Thomas, and Ava Thomas; and one sister, Evelyn Smith of Reno, NV.
