Christine Flenniken Causey age 86 was born December 25, 1925 in Many, Louisiana and passed away at home in LaGrange, Ky after a lengthy illness.
Mrs. Causey was preceded in death by her husband Murphy Causey; son, Randy Wayne Russell; brother, Thomas Euland Flenniken.
She is survived by two sons, Kenneth Ed Russell and his wife Verria of Cecil, Arkansas, Tony Glenn Russell and his wife Suzanne of La Grange, KY; brother, Glenn Flenniken and wife Truey of Natchitoches, LA; sister, Imogene Jordan and Husband Billy Ray of Alexandria, LA; sister in law, Bert Flenniken; seven grandchildren and twenty one great grandchildren.
She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served in her earlier years as a teacher and in her latter years served as the Homemaking Leader in the Relief Society Organization of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She loved the Lord and was grateful for His tender love, patience and His tender mercy and grace. She knew that He died for her so that one day she could be redeemed and returned to Heaven one day. Her faith kept her strong in her later days.
She loved to travel and be around people. If a car was going somewhere, she had to be in it too. Her famous saying driving along the highway was “boy that tells a story.” She never met a stranger. Everyone enjoyed being around her and listening to her stories of her life. She owned a store, owned one of the best restaurants in Louisiana, worked in the State Capitol, and was a telephone operator in her earlier years. One of her favorite past times was to shop till she dropped, or until she ran out of money.
Funeral service will be held 10 A.M. Saturday at Blanchard- St. Denis Funeral Home 848 Keyser Ave. Natchitoches, Louisiana 71457 with interment in Fort Jesup Cemetery in Many, LA; Friends may pay their respects from 4 P.M. until 8 P.M. Friday at Blachard-St. Denis and from 4 P.M. until 8 P.M. Tuesday at Schoppenhorst, Underwood and Brooks.
